Creepmas! Night of the Living Santa

Somehow, I just knew this was the case.

On The 3rd Day Of Creepmas: Type-0 Negative

Yes. It is true. Type-0 Negative has a Christmas song. Entitled “Red Water (Christmas Mourning)”, it’s a fine bit of atmospheric music just for the Creepmas season! I one day hope to be visited by carolers who will sing this fine tune. Seriously. I want a bunch of zombies dressed as elves to serenade me with this.

Santa Hates You

Other than the band’s name, Santa Hates You, and the big candy canes seen throughout the video, that pretty much is where the Christmas stops. But there’s a boat-load of creepy.

On The First Day Of Creepmas…

Welcome to the first day, the opening salvo you might say, of CREEPMAS 2011! CREEPMAS is a good-natured chance for Halloween lovers to exact revenge upon the continuing incursion of Christmas into Autumn and Halloween by bringing some spooky good cheer into the holidays or, more appropriately, the Hallowdays. And what better way to celebrate creepy winter holidays than kickin’ it old school with the one and only original creepy in Christmas, Saint Nick’s muscle… theeeeeeeeeeeeeee KRAMPUS!

Raw Video of Philly Gas Main Explosion

Last night at about 7:30, PGW (Philadelphia Gas Works) crews and local firemen were trying to repair a leaking high-pressure gas main in the Tacony section of Philadelphia. Shortly after they started something ignited the gas, causing a tremendous explosion which killed one utility worker and injuring five other people, including a firefighter. The fire caused by the explosion went to three alarms and lasted three hours after the blast. The explosion combined with the ensuing fire destroyed one building and heavily damaged another.

Videographer Geoff Nichols was on the scene to document the gas leak for a news broadcast, and caught the moment of the explosion. He describes the moment, saying

“I had my hand on the camera and it almost threw me back,” he said. “There was a split second when everyone was kind of wondering ‘did that just happen,’” Nichols said. “Then some guys just sprung into action.”

Sammy’s Stuff to Save Your Space with Space Savers!

Even though this is a satirical commercial about a fake Philly service, the sad thing is that it’s a pretty spot-on representation of the Philly parking situation and how people try to save their parking spaces. Only that there’s not enough F-bombs being dropped to be a true representation of my fellow Philadelphians. And I’m pretty sure that if someone ever provided a service such as this, they would make a mint. Really.

Vampyres: Daughters of Dracula

Guess what I found on Netflix online? Vampyres: Daughters of Darkness! Oh Netfix, you do have a campy gem or two up your sleeve. A naughty, vampy, 70s, British one at that. Don’t know what this film is about? Quickly! To the IMDB-mobile!

“A lesbian vampire couple waylay and abduct various passer-byes, both male and female, to hold them captive at their rural manor in the English countryside in order to kill and feed on them to satisfy their insatiable thirst for blood.”

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA? “But Dave,” you ask, “I thought you didn’t like vampire films?”  Au contre mon frere. I don’t like whiny emo-hipsters that sparkle. But I sure loves me them naughty blood-suckers of the female persuasion.

Trailer for Paul

The trailer for the upcoming film Paul has hit the interwebs. And all I’ve got to say is Ohmygodohmygodohmygod…

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town-a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes…
