Iron Maiden: Flight 666 Movie Teaser

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Iron Maiden, arguably one of the hardest working performers on this Earth, has a documentary coming out this April – Iron Maiden: Flight 666. Film makers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn follow the rockers around the world via the band’s privet tour jet the “Ed Force One”, a Boeing 757 piloted by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson. The film takes place during the bands 2008 Somewhere Back In Time World Tour. What makes the tour monumental is the fact that Iron Maiden’s “Ed Force One” is a specially customized Boeing 757 airliner that holds their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, alowing them to play 23 sold out stadium and arena shows in 13 countries in just 45 days, traveling 50,000 miles and performing to almost half a million fans.

The whole story can be found on Iron Maiden’s site.

60 Years of The Ozzy Osbourne

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Today my friends marks the 60th birthday of the Prince of Darkness – Ozzy Osbourne. And boy oh boy talk about one hell of a life he has had. Cats are envious of his multiple lives, venerated by legions of Metal fans, one of the most marketable personalities ever and just recently named a Living Legend at the Marshall Classic Rock: Roll of Honour Awards (of which after receiving was heard to say “I hope I don’t die on the way home.”). Yes, Ozzy has been living what some would call a charmed life.

Here’s some interesting Ozzy trivia:

- Ozzy has Parkinson’s Syndrome and will have to take daily medication for the rest of his life to combat the involuntary shudders associated with the condition.

- The Ozzfest tour came about after he was denied the chance to perform at the Lollapalooza tour in America.

- In 2004, he received an NME award for godlike genius.

- Before they became Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward went by the moniker Earth.

- Every single one of his solo albums (of original material) has gone multi-platinum.

- Of his many tattoos the letters O-Z-Z-Y across his left knuckles and the happy faces on both knees were self-made during a brief time in jail in the late 1960s.

- He is the owner on an Emmy for Best Reality TV Show.

- After biting the head off a live bat because he thought it was a toy bat during a 1982 concert in Des Moines, Iowa, Ozzy went through a series of painful rabies shots and a hefty donation to an animal rights group.

- He’s a vegetarian.

Sepultura’s Ratamahatta Music Video

Friday, November 21st, 2008

It’s Friday and I feel like rocking out, so here’s a video for arguably one of the greatest heavy metal songs ever – Sepultura’s Ratamahatta. It’s filled with stop motion craziness, Brazilian kettle drums and face-kicking Metal.

J.R.R. Tolkien Meet Slayer

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

World meet A Band of Orcs, the metal-crushing band from the pages of any Dungeons & Dragons games. Armed with 20 sided dice and a mean ax, these masters of mayhem may very well be the successors of GWAR. Just watch their debut video Into the Maelstrom, which is filled with blood, war, scantly clad female elves in chains and obviously orcs. Lots and lots of orcs.

It’s a gaming geeks wet dream come true.

Zombies + Gorbachev + Russian Metal = ASSKICKING!

GORBACHOV: THE MUSIC VIDEO – BIGGER AND RUSSIANER from Tom Stern on Vimeo.

I really don’t know what Russian metal band ANJ is singing about in this video simply called GORBACHOV, and to be honest I really don’t care. All I really need to know is that it depicts Mikhail Gorbachev as a musclebound, zombie-killing barbarian with lasers shooting out of his eyes! Add to that all of the propaganda style animation and hot Ruskie girls embracing good ol’ American Capitalism… well, it brings a tear to the eye indeed.
