2012 Movie Trailer [Possible ARG Alert]

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Roland Emmerich, the man who brought us such doomsday films as Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, is bringing us yet another “End of the World” movie – 2012. For those of you who don’t use tinfoil hats 2012 is in some circles considered the year the world ends or we all become happy psychic-hippies. Obviously Emmerich is going for the wreck everyone’s shit up theory, so the films synopsis is simple:

With the Mayan calendar ending in 2012, a large group of people must deal with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers.

Right now Moviefone has the exclusive movie trailer, which is just a big dick-tease to what we can expect out of this film. And to add to the suspense you’re told at the end of the trailer to “Find out the truth. Google Search: 2012″, which leads me to believe there’s an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) lurking somewhere in the marketing of the film.

The film is due to be released on July 10, 2009 and thus far stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Danny Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Oliver Platt.

Large Hadron Collider

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Tomorrow will dawn a big day in the scientific community, let alone the world in general, when the switch is thrown to the massive Large Hadron Collider, the world’s largest particle accelerator which will collide beams of protons. Once that happens one of two things will happen…

1. Science FTW! Scientists finally discover the ever elusive “God Particle”, which is the only elementary particle that has never been observed by science, the observation of which could confirm the predictions and missing links in the Standard Model of physics and could explain how other elementary particles acquire properties such as mass.

2. We’re Doomed! The high-energy particle collisions performed might produce dangerous phenomena, including micro black holes, strangelets, vacuum bubbles and magnetic monopoles. Kiss your ass goodbye!

So, if you’re an optimist you can actually watch the LHC start up in real time via the CERN video broadcast. If your a doomsayer, well I guess you can hunker down and keep an eye on things at the Has The Large Hardon Collider Destroyed The Earth Yet? site.

Either way we here at Zombie Monkey Projects will be cracking open a fine bottle of booze to salute science… or curse it.
