Bigfoot Guitar

Bigfoot Guitar
The picture is of guitar maker George Marlin’s Bigfoot electric guitar, during the Miami Beach Guitar Festival.

I think the picture speaks for itself really.

Ghost In The Shell Live Action

Ghost In The ShellVariety has confirmed what most fans of the asskickingeous manga franchise, Ghost In The Shell, had feared: Dreamworks bought rights with plans to adapt the futuristic police thriller as a 3-D live-action feature.

GHA!

I’m in no way a fan of manga, anime or whatever the hell it’s called now, but a good movie is a good movie, and the Ghost In The Shell films and series were amazing. And now the taint of Spielberg shall be laid upon it. Dear lord, can’t he just stop ruining wonderful SciFi?

Many had heard the rumor that there was to be a live-action film made, but fans had followed their glee of this possibility with whispered dread. And that dread’s name was Spielberg. This mostly due to the fact that the second anime film, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, was released in the U.S. by DreamWorks in 2004. So the fears of the fanboys have become a self fulfilling prophesy. Gee, thanks.

Avi Arad (produced the three Spider-Man films), Ari Arad and Steven Paul of Seaside Entertainment are attached to produce and brought the project to the studio. Jamie Moss (Street Kings script) has been tapped to pen the adaptation.

Somehow I can’t see any of that helping. I’m going over to the corner to punch a basket full of adorable kittens.

Tesla Would Be Proud

What do you get when two types of geekdom, electric and gaming, collide? Video game themes played with musical Tesla coils. Very cool but still not as awesome as a Death Ray.

Zombie Strippers

Zombie StrippersSpeaking of Sony Pictures… Next week (April 18th) is the theatrical release of what can only be described as a horror-nerd’s wetdream: Zombie Strippers! Staring modern day horror legend Robert Englund as the stripclub owner, ex-porn starlet turned minor-media mogul Jenna Jameson as the lead kick-ass stripper, and Ultimate Fighting Champion Tito Ortiz as the bludgeoning machine that he is, this is the film many a horror dude (and some horror ladies) have been waiting for. It’s got guns, zombies and strippers. Bliss.

Alternate Reality Game: Quarantine

Sony Pictures has unveiled the latest viral marketing sensation to support the upcoming film Quarantine, a remake of the classic Spanish thriller. The first video was released this past March on YouTube by the user EricsVideoBlog. It documents what looks to be a hazmat cleanup outside of an inner-city apartment complex, with a standoff occurring inside of the building simultaneously. The YouTube account is filled with all sorts of theories and at least one lead in the ARG - The Last Palm Tree, the blog of retired police officer Mike Davidson, who has decided to investigate what actually happened in the building. The blog is filled with more videos as well as photos and links to other possible ARG sites.

The move itself is due to hit theaters this October. You can get some more insight and clues on the ARG community board Unfiction.

In the meantime here’s the newly released movie trailer, which is very similar to the YouTube video.

Star Wars Steampunk, Part The ‘nth

Steampunk VaderWe know, we know - you’re just about sick and tired with Steampunk, let alone all the Star Wars themed stuff. But you know what? We ain’t! And the badassery you see here is why. Just look at this modded Darth Vader! He’s just one of a full cast of Star Wars characters that modder extraordinaire Sillof has just unveiled.

Thus far he’s got C-3P0, R2-D2, Luke, Han, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan, Leia, a Stormtrooper, Vader and even Gran Moff Tarkin. Nerdtastic!

Anyone who wants to make our day can see fit to obtain these for us. We will think of you highly and you will move up in the ranks of our cult of personality.

Just For Z-Day Preparedness

Zombie TargetsYou know the day will come when you’ll have to look your boss squarely in the eyes and shoot them… once they’ve turned into flesh-eating zombies during the Zombie Apocalypse, and not until then bub. Really, I mean it. Your local law-enforcement would pretty much ruin your day with just cause.

In the meantime though you can sharpen your zombie killing skills with some well places rounds on these paper targets supplied by Zombie Targets. You’ll find three different targets like the one to the left, all of which are sure to get you looks and chuckles at your local shooting range.

New Iron Man Movie Clip

Iron ManWant to see a more detailed look at Tony Stark testing out the new Iron Man suit? Well Apple just released a new clip from the upcoming Iron Man film titled Run Before You Walk, where Stark makes his first attempt to test fly his unfinished exoskeleton of ass-kickery.

To be honest I think the un-polished, brushed metal look of the suit is far more badass looking than when it’s painted. In either case this clip is pretty damned swank.

Charlton Heston: Moses, Ape Hater, Mountain Man

As many already know, one of the world’s greatest actors died this Saturday - Charlton Heston. Love him or hate him he is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable American icons. From avidly supporting Civil Rights Movement to his tenure as the NRA’s president, from playing Moses to playing a Mountain Man, Heston lived a life most only dream about. Best of all he had a very good sence of humor about himself and his legacy. So it should come as no surprise that we here at ZMP honor him the only way we know how to, with a video parody of The Ten Commandants.
