These are the Xylopholks. They dress in furry animal costumes while playing old-timey music. They’re kind of like Mummers but with even more creepy. Somehow I think this would be nightmarish to children. Just a hunch.
To mash-up the themes from The Simpsons and Star Trek is one thing. It’s kind of cute but it lacks any real “WOW” factor. But to do so whilst using a Theremin most certainly attains that “WOW” factor, and dare I say takes things to a much higher state of awesomeness.
The Browncoats are a Firefly fan band that seems to have embraced the embodiment of everyone’s favorite badass from the Vers – Jyane. They’re scruffy, tattooed, drunk, rowdy and toqued. And to further prove it they just released their new video of their cover of the song The Hero of Canton.

It’s going to be that kind of day where I will be listening to really crazy music. And one of my favorites in this category is one of the craziest of all – Screamin’ Jay Hawkins belting out in all of his Voodoo greatness I Put A Spell On You.
Iron Maiden, arguably one of the hardest working performers on this Earth, has a documentary coming out this April – Iron Maiden: Flight 666. Film makers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn follow the rockers around the world via the band’s privet tour jet the “Ed Force One”, a Boeing 757 piloted by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson. The film takes place during the bands 2008 Somewhere Back In Time World Tour. What makes the tour monumental is the fact that Iron Maiden’s “Ed Force One” is a specially customized Boeing 757 airliner that holds their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, alowing them to play 23 sold out stadium and arena shows in 13 countries in just 45 days, traveling 50,000 miles and performing to almost half a million fans.
I was reading an article on the Underwire about San Diego’s doom metal meets nerd culture band Goblin Cock, and I think I have a new favorite nerd band.
The group consists of band leader Lord Phallus along with bandmates Bane Ass-Pounder, King Sith, Braindeath and Loki Sinjuggler and their latest release, Come With Me If You Want To Live (referenced from the mover The Terminator), gives you a pretty good idea of where they are coming from.
Below is a video from that release for the single We’ve Got A Bleeder, which is something to be witnessed.
