2009 Philly Zombie Prom Photos

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Philly Zombie Prom, 2009. Me and the wife.Last weekend was the 2009 Philly Zombie Prom, of which I help organize and DJ. My partners in crime are legendary DJ Robert Drake (WXPN‘s Land of the Lost and Kids Corner) and bartender extraordinaire Melissa Torre (Tattood Mom and Sugar Mom), and the event takes place at the historical Trocadero Theatre. Along with the bands Live Not on Evil and The Young Werewolves, Henry David ringin in Halloween, and the crowning of the Zombie Prom King and Queen, it’s a pretty big opening to the Halloween season here in Philly. How big you may ask. How about over 900 zombies worth of big? Yeah, pretty sweet. Below are the few shots I was able to take. You can find a bunch more here, here, here, and here.

OBSCURA Tonight

Friday, May 1st, 2009

OBSCURA

Tonight at The Trocadero Theatre is OBSCURA, which is the pre-party/meet and greet for tomorrow’s big alternative fashion show contest Catwalk Tragedy. I’ll be displaying some of my work along with other artists and photographers like Lithium Picnic, Kyle Cassidy and S. Jenx. There’s also various performances including Philly’s own Live Not On Evil and Mighty Mike Saga.

The art show will be up for both events but I will only be there for tonight’s portion of the two day event.

Blog Meet Blog Meet Zombies

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I’m testing out a plugin that’s supposed to repost my ZoMoPro posts to my LiveJournal blog. I think there’s some interactive functions as well, so it isn’t the syndication option that LiveJournal provides. It may work. It may go terribly wrong. Who knows? It’ll be a fun little adventure.

And in the interest in making this post at least not so damned boring here’s a swank video of this past Easter’s Philly Zombie Crawl. It was put together by Philly local filmogapher Bob Sweeney.

National Haunters Con and Philly Zombie Crawl Pics

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

So this past weekend I attended the National Haunters Convention, which took place at the Valley Forge Convention Center right outside of Philly. It’s a mix of a Haunted Attraction trade show and Halloween enthusiast show and included a tour of a local haunt named the Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride. There was a lot going on for me including running a class. A fun time was had by all.

And ’cause I’m a glutton for punishment, Sunday was the 4th annual Philly Zombie Crawl on South Street. My guess, and it’s just that, is that we had some 400 zombies wandering around South Street from bar to bar. All in all it was pretty successful. Being that I’m one of the organizer monkeys there was a lot going on for me. A fun time was had by all.

Sooo… Instead of going through all of the details of both events you can peruse all of the photographs I took this past weekend. Think of it as a gruesome picture book instead of me being a lazy bum.

The Joker’s Wild

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

If you’re in the Philly region and want something to do for First Friday tonight might I recommend checking out the Autumn Society of Philadelphia’s “Joker’s Wild” group gallery exhibit hosted by local comic store Brave New Worlds. The show will feature a wide range of interpretations from various artists of Batman’s most notable antagonist the Joker.

The opening is tonight from 6PM to 9PM and runs until April 30th. Original artwork as well as other merchandise will be on sale also.
