Bloody Disgusting reports that Rob Cohen (xXx, Stealth, The Skulls, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and The Wiz) will be producing a remake of classic 1987 movie Monster Squad for Paramount. Nothing more has been said about the pending rape of your childhood.
This guy obviously doesn’t know what forces he’s toying with. Destroying the newest fetish of the Cult of Apple is asking for doom. Watch as he bravely throws the new iPhone G3 into a blender and pulverizes it, producing a thick black smoke which obviously is the very essence of the Cult of Apple’s god Steve Jobs.
Steve Archer, part of the amazing musical team Ego Likeness, has written and illustrated his first children’s book - Luna Maris. The book’s story is pretty neat:
“We all have questions…even the moon. On his night off, the moon decides to journey to the earth in search of the answer to a burning question: What is the ocean for?”
The book is due to hit the world soon (not too sure as to when that is). In the meantime here’s an interview with Archer about the book, how it came together and the process of creating the illustrations -
Here my fellow horror fans is the official poster for the upcoming film Splatter Disco by indie filmmaker Richard Griffin and will be released by Shock-O-Rama films. The cast includes Ken Foree of Dawn of the Dead and Devil’s Rejects fame, William DeCoff, Lynn Lowry (The Crazies), Alexandra Cipolla, Trent Haaga, Debbie Rochon, Sarah Nicklin, Jason McCormick, Ashley Eaton, Carlos Brum, Brandon Aponte and Brian Mullen.
Griffin describes the film as:
“The best way I can describe Splatter Disco is to imagine It’s A Wonderful Life meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as directed by Chuck Jones!”
Which to ZMP sounds like quite the fun romp. To further the lovely descriptives, the film is about
“the sanctimonious citizens of a provincial Rhode Island town attempt to close down the local fetish club just before the holidays, a series of mysterious and brutal murders expose an even greater threat to them all.”
A local fetish club gone asunder? Say it ain’t so?
It’s official - Guillermo del Toro has agreed to direct the two Hobbit films that the true Lord and Master of Fandom, Peter Jackson is producing. Nerds Worldwide rejoice.
Del Toro will be moving to New Zealand, spending about four years to make the two films back-to-back while utilizing the vast JackSon Empire (Wingnut and WETA Digital) to bring his vision of the Tolkien world to life.
“I am indeed blessed to become a part of the filmmaking community that Peter, Fran and their extraordinary team of collaborators have created in New Zealand,” del Toro said. “Contributing to the ‘Lord of the Rings’ legacy is an absolute dream come true.”
It is for us as well Guillermo. It is for us as well indeed.
ZMP will be heading to Richmond, Virginia for RavenCon, a SciFi con filled with all sorts of nerdy things. We’ll be sure to take a lot of pictures and such. I’ll (Dave) be pimping my art in the Art Show too. If you’re in Richmond stop on by and say yo.
As many already know, one of the world’s greatest actors died this Saturday - Charlton Heston. Love him or hate him he is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable American icons. From avidly supporting Civil Rights Movement to his tenure as the NRA’s president, from playing Moses to playing a Mountain Man, Heston lived a life most only dream about. Best of all he had a very good sence of humor about himself and his legacy. So it should come as no surprise that we here at ZMP honor him the only way we know how to, with a video parody of The Ten Commandants.
